The most important information at a glance:
- There are direct connections with the IC from Vienna to Bischofshofen and Saalfelden. From Bischofshofen, there is a regular bus connection to Mühlbach, as well as from Saalfelden to Maria Alm.
- From December 14, 2025, the Westbahn will also run several times a day from Vienna directly to Bischofshofen and Saalfelden.
- The ICE “Großglockner” runs directly from Hamburg to Pinzgau every weekend.
- The “Mobilito” mobility center is located in Bischofshofen, where you can obtain all information, tickets, and reservations for buses and trains throughout Europe. There are also car-sharing offers here, which are very interesting in combination with train travel.
Maria Alm, Dienten, and Mühlbach are all easily accessible by bus.

Toll-paying arrival from Munich, Germany, Vienna, Austria or Villach, Austria via Tauernautobahn A10, exit Bischofshofen and continue towards Mühlbach, Dienten and Maria Alm.
You can reach the Hochkönig region and its vacation resorts Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach in the Salzburgerland toll-free the fastest via Munich, Siegsdorf, Lofer. Another way to get there without toll is via Rosenheim, Kiefersfelden, Kufstein Süd, St. Johann/Tyrol, Saalfelden and you are already in Maria Alm, Dienten or Mühlbach.

The closest airports are Salzburg and Munic All major airlines have Salzburg and/or Munich as arrival and departure destination ination in their program, and there are also many seasonal charter flights!
For the journey from the north of Germany a flight to Salzburg is particularly worthwhile. There are several non-stop flights a day from Hamburg. Within one hour and twenty minutes you can reach the Salzburger Land - from there the Hochkönig region is only an hour's drive or train ride away.
In summer, the hiking bus connects Maria Alm, Dienten, and Mühlbach and also goes up to the Arthurhaus. This means that nothing stands in the way of relaxed hikes without a car. With the Guest Mobility Ticket, the ride is even free.
In winter, the ski bus runs from Maria Alm to Dienten and within Mühlbach. Please note: there is no connection between Mühlbach and Dienten. The ski bus is free for all skiers and for all holders of the Guest Mobility Ticket.
