Family hike to the Erichhütte

For big and small - the Erichhütte at the foot of the Hochkönig

The Hochkönig region is well known for countless family-friendly hikes, simply a true adventure region for young and old. And the hike to the Erichhütte in Dienten is absolutely one of my favorites! In addition, it is literally a pleasure to hike to this beautiful hut!

And off we go!
The large parking lot directly next to the road towards Dientner Sattel is my starting point today. I am on the way with my faithful four-legged companion and off we go. Towards the sun and through the first alpine pasture gate we march up the wide alpine pasture path. After a short time I see the first cows, which are allowed to spend the hot summer on the refreshing alpine pasture, lying comfortably on a flat piece of meadow. Also gentian, silver thistles and alpine roses decorate the ascent to the Erichhütte. Because the view is just about fantastic, I pause for a moment and sit comfortably on a bench next to a fountain. My dog also takes advantage of the short break and refreshes himself at the splashing water next to me!

How nice it is sometimes to simply enjoy the moment! But I keep on going one turn after the other and already I see the flag of the Erichhütte behind the last grass hill. Full of anticipation for the pleasurable alpine food, I walk along the path and admire the biodiversity in this cultivated alpine pasture area! If you take a closer look, you will discover many colorful butterflies, insects, one or the other lizard, and the frogs like to hang around the waters. In the meadow between the grasses are hidden a lot of herbs, which are often used for the preparation of food and drinks!

Warm hosts at the Erichhütte
Arriving at the Erichhütte, I am greeted and waved to me from afar by the host "Luggi" and his team. This familiar atmosphere and the warmth of the guests always gives me the greatest pleasure! Then the time has come: Luggi serves me his freshly cooked and widely known "best Kaiserschmarren" of the region. With this I drink a cold glass of milk. A real pleasure and in my opinion it tastes best on the mountain anyway, doesn't it? Come and taste the "Schmankerl" yourself!

Equipment: For this hike you will need good shoes and clothing depending on the weather. Sun protection is recommended and a water bottle if you get thirsty on the way to the hut.

Walking time: From the parking lot to the hut you need about 30 min. The path is a bit steep and bumpy but not dangerous and wide enough, so a baby carriage should have big and fixed tires.
